The Taylortown Police Department is currently under an employment

Employment
1. Must be a United
States Citizen.
2. Must be a High School Graduate or have a GED.
3. Must be at least 21 years of age.
4. Must possess a valid driver's license and have been licensed to drive for a minimum of one year, with no loss of
license within the past year. Must possess a North
Carolina driver's license prior to beginning employment.
5. Veterans must provide proof of military service (DD-214). If currently in the military, the applicant must provide a
letter from the military indicating ETS date.
6. Must be of good moral character with no record of conviction by
any local, state, federal, or military court of a felony or Class A or Class B misdemeanors as defined by the Training and
Standards Commission (.0111 )(3).
7. Must satisfactorily complete the steps listed in the Hiring Process.
Hiring Process
The application process from start to finish may take two to three months. Successful completion of
this process does not guarantee employment. The Taylortown Police Department reserves the right to hire any candidate from
the list depending on the department's needs. The Taylortown Police Department is an equal opportunity employer.
The
process begins when the applicant completes a F-3 form along with all the necessary documents.
Applicants must…
1. Complete and submit all applications. Applications may be or picked up at the Police Dept.
2. Criminal History and Driving
History Review.
3. Complete an oral Interview with the Patrol Commander (applicant must pass this step to continue in
the process)
4. Submit to a background Investigation (applicant must pass this step to continue in the process)
5.
May be required to complete a Computer Voice Stress Analyzer (CVSA) / Polygraph Examination
6. Pass a physical examination
administered by a practicing physician in the State of North Carolina, to include vision, color blindness and drug testing.
7. Complete a psychological
evaluation (applicant must pass this step to continue in the process)
8. Interview with the Chief of Police (applicant must pass this step to continue in the process)
Upon successful completion of each step, candidates may be considered for available positions.
Lateral Transfers
All individuals seeking lateral
transfer from another law enforcement agency within the State of North
Carolina must possess a current Basic Law Enforcement Training Certificate.

Duties
Taylortown Police
Officers are responsible for the enforcement of state and city laws and regulations. Officers patrol an assigned area, give
assistance to motorists and other citizens, safeguard property, direct traffic, and investigate accidents. They make preliminary
investigations of any type of crime or complaint; make a report of findings and enlist further aid, if necessary, to apprehend
violators of the law; appear in court as witnesses; and assist other law enforcement agencies.
